Every time we baptize, we in effect tell that person (and those listening in) that the life we live is not our own. We are named, claimed, and commandeered by God. We are not masters of our own destiny. God has dreams for you and me. This is good news because the saddest of all sad things is to be uncalled and unclaimed. When we sign up with Jesus, better hang onto our hat. We will be part of the difference that the world needs.
We discover who we are through a discovery of who God calls us to be. Each of us has a vocation. That means our lives have purpose. Others count on us. God counts on us! In the church, each of us has the opportunity to welcome our share in Christ’s ministry to the world. Come to church this month! Join us in the season of Epiphany. We’ll catch on that God is dealing with us!
Peace, Pastor Gary
