Let’s celebrate our church where the wonderful wildness of God breaks through common clay pots and fills us with a holy spirit that overflows; where we see rainbows and many-splendored colors; where light shines in the darkness; and where every day is a festival of faith! And let’s celebrate our church as we accompany Jesus during the walk of Lent – listening for God’s music, responding to God’s word, praising God with clapping hands and moving feet, pleasing God with justice and mercy, and worshiping God with transfigured lives. As Leon Sanders has reminded me so eloquently, our faith is to be like hands “open and out.” Thank you to Miryana and Darlinda for their music leadership. Yesterday they both performed exceptionally. We enjoyed 2 special musical guests that day, too – Sidney Walker and MiJin Choi. Those 2 will be in concert next Sunday afternoon at our church, by the way. (4PM)
Before the service began yesterday we learned that Cynthia DeVore had taken ill. We hold her in prayer. During the service, we read several prayer requests generated that morning: the Lloyd family grieves the death of Uncle Bill Lloyd of N. Carolina who died that morning; Annie
Lou Berman (with the Vellenga family) who is in palliative care and the loved ones needing
solace and insight on steps to take; Trish Englund, who has stage 4 lung cancer that has spread to her liver and has treatment decisions to make (Trish is the Godmother of Miesha Sanders); Linda Schiller, Miesha’s friend’s mother (and like a mother to Miesha), has a rare blood cell cancer causing lung issues; and Jaunita Sanders (Leon’s mother) who is recovering from a stroke last year and now has breast cancer and needs prayers in selecting the right treatment.
Ash Wednesday service is at 7:00 p.m. this week. Lenten blessings to you all! Pastor Gary
