Dayton Avenue Church is a rainbow church. We accept anyone in their search for Christ. A rainbow has been our logo for decades. We are accepting of all lifestyles. We have a passion for social justice and faith-based action. From starting a Clothing Center over 30 years ago to supporting social justice programs of all varieties, DAPC reaches out to our community. Families come to DAPC from all over the metro area and we work hard to enrich and strengthen our faith as we go back into the metro community. DAPC is an open and accepting faith community with a passion for social justice and faith-based action. We are an urban, liberal Christian congregation of diverse families. We strive to nurture our faith in God, support each other spiritually, and put our gifts to work in our community. All are Welcome, Always!! Sunday, August 7: Our organist for Sunday, Kathryn Moen is bringing some exciting music for our prelude to Worship. "Obangiji" by the Nigerian composer and organist Fela Sowande. While studying in London, he was influenced by Fats Waller and George Gershwin and became a friend of Paul Robeson. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists. "Obangiji" is his personal signature tune. Come a few minutes before 10:00 Am so you don't miss this preswentation. Bach and Flor Peeters round out the special music for this Sunday. June 19: We bear many injuries – wounds of the body, mind, spirit – of relationships, ideals, expectations. Every one of us – even the most ebullient and blessed, have experienced brokenness. Next week you are invited to bring your hurt and pain to church. Yes, some of do this regularly, but in secret buried deep in our hearts. Open your heart so that together in worship we might seek healing and reconciliation for whatever troubles you. It may be something that happened years ago – let us pray with you. It may be something that happened in a work place – let us call upon the Spirit of freedom and forgiveness. It may be an injury that occurred in church- let us confess our sins and shortcomings on the way to reconciliation. It may be a raw wound of spiritual distress, “Where was God when I most needed the holy presence?” – let us share the weight together and seek the freedom of renewal. So bring your hurt. Bring your pain that together we might seek the “Balm of Gilead” of which we sing. Together we can share the healing of God’s Spirit in anointing oil. In the Spirit’s unity we will restore our shared love and faith: a broken people made whole in Jesus.
